We are a noble race.

Someone tell me why I am amused. Tell me why I am here smirking to myself as the world busies itself condemning the outrageous behaviour of the British and American troops based in Iraq. I am almost sure that I am not being sadistic. The fact that I sympatise with the Iraqi POWs gives me enough reason to believe so. I do not want to be in their shoes, ever. Not even for all the gold in the world.

And I believe, from the intense coverage the media is giving this issue, the public finds the troops' behavior appalling. Yes yes I know that mankind is a noble race. All of us believe that those guilty of these atrocities ought to tried, shot and then beheaded. The Nicholas Berg way, no less. We are noble because we are hard on those who helped us boot Saddam . We make sure that they are well-punished for their not-so-petty crimes that reflect so badly on our society. And of course we are noble because we are willing to sacrifice innocent civilians like Nicholas Berg to hold on to our stand. What's his little life worth compared to the general welfare of mankind sustained by keeping certain prisoners in jail?

Mankind is definitely noble. We believe that we can send someone to touch the devil and expect him to remain untainted. We are all saints. We can destroy evil and stay angels. We can step foot into a country with a precedence of violence, win violence with greater violence and then be appalled that we are actually capable of such atrocities. It is great wonder that there are those who are more naive than this maiden here who spends her time building castles in the air.

I am not saying that we did wrong. I am no politician; I do not know of the repecussions if America did not declare war. I am just saying that there is no need for the hype, which will in turn pressurize the military Courts to churn out more severe punishments than are otherwise necessary.

There is no need to believe that we are more noble than we actually are. Face it, our basic instincts and traits still stand. No amount of schooling on proper decorum or etiquette is going to change the situation. But then again, I doubt that anyone will acknowledge the truth in what I just said. Or does anyone understand in the first place?

I am just blabbering nonsense. No need to crack your heads trying to understand it. I am amused, I am smirking again. Learn noble race, learn!
