I doubt I'll experience as many ippon throws as I did on Tuesday, nor will my emotions undergo as extreme a rollercoaster ride. The reality of losing so directly and so rapidly within a bout which lasted less than a minute was so utterly embarrassing that tears welled up in my eyes the moment I realised I faulted. And there was the part of my coach grabbing my lapel and shaking me when I broke down and started crying again after the bout. But eventually what he said did manage to get me up and going again. There were some minor changes in the team line-up and I was switched to play in the light-weight category. In any case, I must be grateful for this second opportunity, for somewhere during my second bout on Tuesday I managed a full ippon score.

Thus, with a score of 3-1 against CJC and 4-0 against VJC, the RJ judo girls' team have officially progressed to the finals. And we look forward to thrashing HCJC. They are on for a tough fight.
